New Gardner Police Headquarters
Gadner, MA

Baybutt Construction has been selected as Construction Manager to build the New $12.75 Million 33,000 sq. ft. Gardner Police Headquarters on Main Street in Gardner, MA.  The Project will revitalize the Main Street venue and provide a state of the art facility for the community.  New features include dispatch with communications antenna, evidence storage to preserve the chain of custody, armory, new booking offices, and interview offices with separate areas for juveniles. The project also includes 10 cells to accommodate both sexes and juveniles, and a large community meeting room.  The building will be entirely secure with closed-circuit television cameras and secure spaces for all areas of the building, as well as two sally ports for detention control.
Baybutt has mobilized and will begin the project with the demolition of five existing buildings on this four-acre Main Street site.  Once the site has been cleared, work will commence on the building proper beginning in 2013 and completion is scheduled for the Spring of 2014.  The architect for this project is Jacunski Humes of Newtown, CT with whom Baybutt completed previously the Acton, MA Public Safety Facility.
Baybutt has developed into a leader in the design and construction of Public Safety facilities in New England.  Recent projects include Portsmouth Fire Station (New Hampshire’s first LEED accredited fire station), Acton, MA Public Safety Facility, Somersworth, NH Police Headquarters, Keene, NH Police, Bellows Falls, VT Police and Fire, Keene, NH Central Fire, Bennington, VT Fire and Antrim, NH Police.

New Antrim Police Headquarters
Antrim, NH


This project includes construction of a new 6,500 square foot police facility for the Town of Antrim.  Features include a separate holding area for juveniles, an interview room and expanded administrative space; all currently lacking in the current station.

Vermont State Office Building
Brattleboro, VT


The State of Vermont Department of Buildings and General Services has selected Baybutt Construction Corporation of Keene, NH as General Contractor for the $3 Million complete renovation and mechanical systems replacement project at the Brattleboro State Office Building in Brattleboro, Vermont. The Brattleboro State Office Building on Main Street in Brattleboro houses many District Offices all to be totally renovated. The offices include: The Department of Health; The Department of Labor; The Department for Children and Families Economic Services Division and The Department for Children and Families Family Services Division. The 20,000 square foot building will be completely gutted with new electrical/mechanical systems installed as well as new partitions and all new finishes. The building will also be brought up to all current building code standards including structural upgrades and egress renovations.

Rockingham Free Public Library
Bellows Falls, VT


Baybutt Construction has been selected Construction Manager for the Rockingham Free Public Library project in Bellows Falls, VT.  The project involves a comprehensive renovation to the historic library built in the late 1800’s.  New construction consists of a new handicap entrance, stair tower and elevator.  Renovations include complete new mechanical, electrical and fire protection systems, as well as reconfiguration of the interior space and all new finishes, furniture, fixtures and equipment for the building.  Construction is underway and is scheduled for a fall 2012 completion date.

Keene Public Library
Keene, NH

The City of Keene has selected Baybutt Construction as General Contractor for the comprehensive exterior renovation of the Thayer Mansion at the Keene Public Library.  The Mansion, built in the late 1800s and site of the original library, will receive the following restoration work:  An energy efficiency package will be put in place to re-glaze the exterior windows with high performance glass and re-insulate the heads, sills and jambs of each window.  Reroofing will be performed on the mansard and flat roof areas of the mansion.  Repairing and repainting the porch, the trim, and the cornice, as well as the finials on the southeast tower.  The project is designed by Scully Architects, Keene, NH, and is expected to be complete in the spring of 2012.

Nantucket ACK General Aviation & Administration Building
Nantucket, MA

Baybutt Construction has been selected General Contractor for the new $4.5 Million Aviation Building at Nantucket Memorial Airport, the second busiest airport in Massachusetts.  The new 13,250 square foot General Aviation and Administrative Office Building will be located on the site of the old fire and rescue building that was sold and moved off the property earlier this year.  The new two-story building will provide a lounge for general aviation passengers on the first floor and a pilot flight training, waiting, and rest area for general aviation pilots on the second floor.  The building will service private planes, jets, the coast guard and the military.
The office space will accommodate the Airport Manager’s office as well as several other administrative staff offices similar to the old building.  The project is designed by Nantucket Architecture Group and Jacobs Engineering.  Work is currently underway and is scheduled to be completed in the Fall of 2012.

Newtown Canine Facility
Newtown, CT

Baybutt Construction Corporation has been selected Construction Manager to build the $1.5 Million Animal Shelter in Newtown Connecticut.  The 3,800 square foot facility is being designed  by Jackunski Huhms Architects out of  Berlin, CT.  Sitework is now underway with a spring completion date scheduled.

The Doyle Center
Leominster, MA

The Trustees of Reservation of Massachusetts, founded in 1890, and who control more than 100 special properties encompassing nearly 25,000 acres all around Massachusetts, have selected Baybutt Construction as Construction Managers for the Doyle Estate Core Project in Leominster, MA.


The project includes renovations and improvements to the Doyle Estate Core which is comprised of six structures located on a 108 acre site. The structures include a 7,450 square foot estate home that was first constructed in 1840; a 2,600 square foot gymnasium that was constructed at the turn of the 19th century with a three-car garage added in 1920; a 4,900 square foot cape home that was constructed in 1974 and three additional estate support buildings. The work will include converting the Doyle Mansion to create a gathering place that will allow visitors to enjoy the historical interests of the Doyle home as well as the natural beauty of the surrounding gardens, meadows and lily pond. Baybutt will rehabilitate the Mansion for private/public events on the ground floor and office space for the Trustees of Reservation Staff on the second floor. The design will include universal access to the first floor including new accessible bathrooms on the first floor as well. The project includes sustainable design in the five categories of LEED Design: Energy and Atmosphere, Materials and Resources, Sustainable Sites, Water Efficiency, and Indoor Quality. Kuhn Riddle Architects of Amherst, MA is handling the design and engineering for the project. The project is scheduled to begin this spring and will be completed for a grand opening celebration in the spring of 2012.

This project consists of a gut renovation of the first floor of the Hannah Grimes Center for Entrepreneurship.  New wall partitions will be constructed to provide new offices, conference spaces, and a kitchen.

Brattleboro Food Co-op
Brattleboro, VT

This project consists of new construction of a 50,000 sf building to house the Brattleboro Food Co-op's ratail store, offices, and affordable housing units. Additional features include a green roof, permeable surfacing, and a super insulated building envelope.

1063 Western Avenue Senior Housing
West Brattleboro, VT

Project consists of conversion of the three-story, approximately 22,000 square foot portion of this former office building into 21 apartments for elderly living. Work will include expansion of the first floor footprint of the structure, and significant interior and envelope changes, along with reworking of mechanical and electrical systems.

TD Bank N.A.
38 Branches Throughout New Hampshire

This project will facilitate changes for TD Bank’s new branding and branch facilities layout in 38 branches. Scope of work includes sitework, exterior lighting and signage, and façade renovations.  Interior renovations include flooring, walls, ceilings, a new “user friendly” open layout, millwork, check desks, teller lines and back counters, penny arcades, power walls with signage and Muzac.

Baystate Health Genetics/Immunology/Molecular Laboratory Renovation
Northampton, MA

The project involved development of approximately 10,200 sf of available space within the building at 361 Whitney Avenue in Holyoke Massachusetts as a Genetics, Immunology and Molecular (G/I/M) Laboratory for Baystate Health.  The project scope involved demolition of existing drywall partitions and ceilings, limited site work to connect utilities outside of the building, saw-cutting the slab to accommodate plumbing, installation of new metal stud/drywall partitions and doors, installation of new cabinetry/counters, lockers and limited specialties (soap and towels) at sink locations.  Mechanical work was design/build and was provided by Baystate Health’s own contractor.  The electrical scope was design/build under this contract.  Electrical scope involved running service lines from the mechanical room to the subject work area, installation of lights, outlets and data ports, wiring of automatic smoke shutters at a few locations and installation and wiring of life safety devices.  Under a previous project, the owner had installed three (3) large conduits in the ceilings to facilitate running electrical lines from the service room to the subject work area.

Portsmouth Fire Station 2
Portsmouth, NH

Project consists of demolition of 3,000 sf existing building on Lafayette Road (NH Route 1) on the selected 2.5 acre site.  New construction of 15,725 sf 6-bay State of the Art LEED Silver Fire Station.  New Two Story Facility includes six apparatus bays, training tower and training auditorium, offices, men’s and women’s living quarters, exercise and locker rooms, Emergency Operations Center, storage and fire pole.

Baybutt Construction serves as the program manager for this multi-phased project, which began in September 2006 with design and permitting. Construction started with the conversion/renovation of a Kelton Street house into the construction Site Office/Operations Center, the house which will eventually become the NVTRC management office. The Rehabilitation Center is situated on twelve acres of land donated by Mount Wachusett Community College. The facilities of the College are open to the veterans and their families. The College has extended free access to veterans and their family members to the full curriculum of College level classes. The College Day Care Center will be available at no cost to the families. The Heywood Hospital, located directly across the street from the NVTRC facility, will be part of the services available to the NVTRC program. The Veterans and families will be housed in separate living quarters located on the Project grounds. These cottages will be approximately 1000 sq ft with two bedrooms, bath, kitchen and living area. The cottage concept will allow the clients to practice their living skills and provide privacy for both the veteran and his/ her family. This project will achieve LEED Silver certification.
